My favorite baby books

I love blogging because I can blog about anything. Today's post is about the books I love reading the most to my baby. First of all I think that reading to children is a very important thing - to develop their imagination but also to bond with them in a different way. I have so much fun when I read to my little one... and I think he does too and that's the most important to me!

The book I'm reading here is from Oliver Jeffers. He wrote quite a few, but I think this one is definitely my favorite of all! The title is "Stuck" but I have the French version so you probably can tell that it's written "Coincé" on it. I really try to speak only French to Mason so he can understand it and speak it later...

The book is about a little boy who's flying a kite that gets stuck in a tree. Then he tries to bring it down by throwing a bunch of things you wouldn't believe up into the tree! It's so funny, well written, and nicely drawn... I could read it again and again!

It's so interesting to see how Mason gets into the story I read to him. He looks at me and I wonder what he's thinking. I think he's starting to really like when I'm reading him books. I can't wait for him to choose whatever he likes the most and ask me to read for him!

I think one of the things I love the most about Oliver Jeffers' books is the sense of humor. It's so important to teach humor to kids! His books totally resonate with me. I'm like a kid reading them. I also like that the character in it is a little boy, so Mason can also relate to it.

^ Mason loves to laugh so much ^

He's starting to really stick around while I read and participate in turning the pages. He loves the drawings and usually touches them. Sometimes I don't read - I just watch what he likes and tell him what he can see. Books are so good in so many ways!

Other books I have and love very much from Oliver Jeffers are just below if you want to take a look at them or even buy them for your little one... I swear you're gonna have so much fun reading them!

And if you know any good books that you could share with me please leave a comment. I'm always happy to discover new ones :)

Mason's first time in the pool

The weather is getting very very nice in LA these days, so we finally decided to take Mason to the pool for the first time. I cannot believe we are in Feburary and it's already so warm! The water was still pretty chilly but totally barable under the sun.

I put him in the water slowly and graduatly, not knowing how he would react. Every baby is different in the water. But he was very calm and happy about it.

First I sat him where there is only a little bit of water and the funniest thing is that he started claping at himself - like he knew he was doing something new and was very proud of himself! I was very proud of him too :)

It was super bright and sunny so I tried to make him wear his sunglasses, but they never last very long on his face. He preferes much more to chew on them! Too bad because I really want him to protect his eyes but also because he looks so funny wearing them!

^ Such a little scoundrel ^

After a little while chilling under the sun it was time to go in the water. Mason thought it was super fun! He started to splash the water and play around.

He loved being on his belly and trying to make some bubbles. He's used to doing it when he takes his bath but this time it was more difficult because there was much more water. He tried quite a few times but found it more challenging. I'm gonna start some baby swimming lessons next month so I'm sure he'll get very comfortable in the water soon...

I loved taking him in the pool. He's teething again a lot and the water calms him down. He kept sucking his thumb while I was making him float. I think he loved it and was very comfortable...

I taught him how to kick in the water with his feet and he started to do it so much lying down on me. At one point I was barely holding him and he was fine. I'm always amazed at the amount of trust a baby can have with his parents...

Burgandy flower outfit

Today I'm wearing one of my most comfortable outfits. I love this blouse because it's light and airy but very pretty at the same time. I fell in love with the mix of colors and flowers on it. I'm wearing it with a tight faux leather pants and boots but I'm sure it will go very nicely with a short and escarpin for the summer.

This blouse is very transparant so I'm wearing a tank top under. We can't really notice it but if I wasn't wearing it we would see it right away!

This time around it was difficult to make my baby match me since it's difficult to find pinkish burgandy flower outfit for baby! But I tried to make him match in the color them...

I love the strap on his pants...

I always have one of my best accessorie with me. My Chanel purse match with probably everything...

He saw his bottle in my purse and of course couldn't get away without having it. He loves it!

10 months old

Mason is now 10 months, and the biggest change is that I can't make him lie down to take his monthly pictures anymore. I tried, very hard! But nope, there's nothing I can do... So I guess from now on I'll have to work it out in a different way.

He's such an active and playful baby. I feel like I need to give him a new toy every five minutes or he'll get bored like hell. It's getting pretty challenging and tiring, but to see his evolution and his personality more and more everyday makes it worth it!

His two upper teeth are now in. I hope the teething pain will be better for a little bit now, but I think it's probably not going to last unfortunately. He has many more to come! The good thing is that now he can eat more solid food. It's very good for him since he loves it so much. He only wants to eat what I eat! If he sees me eating something, I cannot get away with it - he has to try it. Ninety-nine percent of the time, he loves the food I give him. I hope I'll be able to make him a lot of nice meals. I think it's so much fun being able to cook for him and having him liking it! Very rewarding to me :)

^ he loves his whale. Soon he'll have it following him everywhere ^

No one told me he would be standing right away after learning how to crawl. I thought it would take time but nope - it came right away after. Now he's cruising around while holding himself onto some furniture. It's pretty cute but I cannot take out of my mind that he'll be walking very soon. I'm seeing my baby becoming more and more independent and it scares me... I don't want him to run away from me! I guess it's a normal mom feeling though...

His new hobby lately is to unload his shelves. He doesn't even play with toys in between; he just wants to empty it. It's very funny to watch because the shape of the shelves makes it a little difficult to do, so I guess the challenge is what attracts him. He's starting to be really good at it! I'll have to teach him to put everything back one day... not quite ready for it yet though!
